The completed Hyannis Youth & Community Center Project

Hyannis Youth & Community Center

Category: Athletic Facility
Project name: Hyannis Youth & Community Center
Location: Hyannis, MA
Project Architect: Bargmann Hendrie + Archetype, Inc.

After 52 years of service, the Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Memorial Skating Rink was demolished and in January 2008 construction began on the new $24.7 million dollar Hyannis Youth and Community Center project with the brand new facility opening to the public in September, 2009. The spectacular 105,000 square foot center is outfitted with a state of the art elevated three lane walking track, competition basketball court with two full cross courts and portable seating for 500 spectators. A game room with television, pool tables and pingpong tables is adjacent to the cafe. Tall pub style stools are located in the interior corridor overlooking the ice rink where patrons can enjoy a refreshment and free internet connection. The warming room for skaters is remarkable with its brightly colored walls and beautiful yellow, ovalshaped benches which surround the fireplace. The main rink has seating for 1,500, with an additional 250 in the second rink.
